That's what I get for assuming
So it turns out Soldier's Angels big fundraising event starts, um, today, and not a few weeks from today, as I originally thought. Should have double checked that, since I was planning on donating some quilts for their auction, none of which are finished yet.
Anyhow, see the link on the sidebar for Team Army? Click it. Give them whatever they want!
All money raised will be used to buy voice-activated laptops for soldiers who's hands were damaged in combat; Wii game systems to aid in physical therapy; and hand held GPS systems for soldiers who suffer from TBI- and PTSD-related short-term memory loss.

A Break from my Break
Just to post a pic of my dress, which is completely finished and fits like a glove:

Not a very good picture of me (I haven't even brushed my hair today), but I wanted Grandma to see how the dress turned out.

Need a new series
I spent about half of last year reading the Discworld series (fantastic), a couple months ago I discovered the Temeraire series (also fantastic); while I was finishing up Temeraire (there are only five books out so far), I was referred to Digger (online graphic novel, love it), and once I got caught up with the archives I started the Twilight saga (decent). I finished the last Twilight book the day before yesterday, and now I find myself in need of a new series. Suggestions? I like pretty much anything, though lately I've been reading lots of fantasy.

All over but the partying.
I took my last final this evening. I have two days of work left, then commencement on Saturday!
Next week we (Charlie, Kit, Kate, a friend, and me) are going to Schlitterbahn for a couple of days. The week after that I'm going to Ireland with a friend for a couple of weeks. Then I'll come home and get a job. It's a grand ole' life. :)

Down for the count...
History 497 presentation (Friday)
English 301 paper (Friday)
History 497 paper (May 1)
History 418 paper (May 6)
English 435 paper (May 6)
English 301 paper (TBD)
And then three final exams, and then I graduate! I had a dream last week that I missed my finals, so I couldn't graduate. For some reason I still participated in the graduation ceremony anyway, but when I got there I realized I had forgotten my Kindle, and had to sit through the two-hours long ceremony with nothing to read. In the dream, I was far more upset by this than I was about not being able to graduate.

I have a sickness.
It's called 'almost-finished-itis'. It pushes me on to new projects whenever I approach the end of one, leaving a wake of nearly-finished blankets and patterns wherever I go:
My most recent project, a fairy tales-inspired lap blanket:

My lampshade, started a month or so ago. That black vine at the top is the transparency showing what will be above the potted vine. After I finish those designs on each panel, I may or may not go back and do a small pattern to fill in all the white space.

And finally, the project that started them all. This growth chart was given to me when I first learned to cross-stitch, fifteen years ago. I finally pulled it out a week ago, and have made steady progress on it.

This isn't all of them, either. I have another quilt (for the dining room table), but it's in so many pieces still I didn't want to lay them all out for the picture. I think I started that one back in the spring of 2008.
